FAQ

What is a Shalom Basket?

A Shalom Basket is a gift basket filled with a variety of items such as apples, honey, candy, cookies, a candle and a holiday card. It is appropriately and beautifully designed to give to your Jewish friend during the Jewish New Year, also called Rosh Hashanah.

How does the Shalom Basket ministry work?

You order the basket from our ministry. We encourage you to deliver the basket yourself if you are comfortable with it. However,  we can deliver the basket for you. We can discuss spiritual issues with your friend upon delivery, or we will merely drop it off and wish them a Happy New Year from you. We will follow your instructions.

How do you know what I want you to do?

On the enclosed order form you may indicate if the delivery is a "red light", "yellow light", or "green light". A "red light" indicates you want us to deliver the basket, wish your friend a sweet New Year, and leave without discussing any spiritual issues. A "yellow light" indicates that you want us to very cautiously address spiritual issues. A "green light" indicates you want us to look for an opportunity to talk to your friends about spiritual issues, more specifically in regards to what they think about Jesus.

Where do you deliver Shalom Baskets?

We deliver Shalom Baskets only in the metro Atlanta area. If you are unsure whether your recipient is within our delivery area, please call us before placing your order.

What about the New Year card? What does it say?

We enclose a traditional Jewish holiday card with the basket (no Christian materials are enclosed). Please let us know if there is a special note or greeting for your Jewish friend. We will personalize and sign the card for you.

Will you take the basket to a place of business?

Absolutely. We have delivered baskets to doctors, lawyers, real estate agents, chiropractors, and other types of business people. Due to the nature of the office environment,  we are unable to speak directly to the recipient of the basket.  So, it is not advisable to send a “green light” basket to a business unless you know we can speak directly to your friend.

What do you do if someone isn’t at home or work?

Due to the volume of baskets, we are unable to revisit homes. If the person is not in, we will leave the basket at their home or business. Most of our baskets are delivered throughout the day and sometimes in the evening between 6 PM and 9 PM. We deliver baskets to businesses during the day.

Who will be delivering the baskets?

We will have several volunteers to deliver “red light” baskets. Our trained staff will be delivering “yellow light” and “green light” baskets.

How much does it cost?

Each basket is $35.00, which includes the cost of delivery.

When will the baskets be delivered?

Shalom Baskets will be delivered the week before Rosh Hashanah.
